Our company is unfolding a nationwide protein research
contract business leveraging the technological know-how we have
obtained in our own research and development programs. We're also
placing particular emphasis on the development of reagent kits
for researchers and expect several products to be on the market
by the end of the year. We are also planning to intensify healthcare
product development.
When our company was established in 1990, Tokushima offered lower
land prices than the Kansai region. We foresaw convenient traffic
access with the opening of the Akashi-kaikyo Ohashi Bridge, and
we liked the rural character of Tokushima. I believe that the area's
unique environment is conducive to the cultivation of original
ideas as a result of being close to the Kansai region, a major
market, yet physically insulated from the distraction of outside
interference.
Another attraction is the enthusiasm of Tokushima itself towards
supporting ventures. The prefecture ranks at the top of national
lists in terms of total numbers of investment projects and invested
amounts. Because there are fewer companies in a rural area like
Tokushima than in other more urban environments, it is possible
to take advantage of the available support framework in a more
effective way. Our company first received support in 1998 under
the provisions of the Small-to-Medium Sized Enterprise Establishing
Activity Promotion Act, and we have since been able to take advantage
of various venture business support programs, including subsidies
and loans used in the construction of a new company building.
Our goal is to be able to turn our dreams into reality in a consistent,
sustainable way, and it is my personal hope that we can make even
a small contribution to society by realizing this goal.
