Based on our company's theme [Mobile Energy to support the next generation of multi-media and the earth's environment], the Mobile Energy Company develops, manufactures and sells high quality batteries. These batteries are the heartbeat of portable appliances such as cellular phones, notebook PCs, digital cameras, as well as cordless applications including power tools. In 1964 at the Sumoto Factory located on Awaji Island, Sanyo was the first manufacturer in Japan to mass-produce the Nickel Cadmium battery by utilizing original technology. We have continued to develop and manufacture several more batteries including Nickel Metal Hydride, Lithium-ion, Lithium Polymer batteries. These products have raised our company to the top position among manufacturers of small-size rechargeable batteries, both in name and in reality.

One of the many reasons for deciding to establish our factory in Tokushima Prefecture was its convenient accessibility. Tokushima boasts an airport, a harbor, and an expressway all within close proximity to our factory. The vitality and diligence of Tokushima and its citizens coupled with the receptive treatment offered also weighed heavily on our choice of location. Operations began in 1988. Our nucleus factory at Tokushima prides itself for holding the title of the world's top manufacturing volume for Lithium-ion batteries, demand for which has been increasing steadily. We are now planning to further expand our manufacturing capacity by the construction of an additional factory on the current grounds. Upon our shoulders rests the responsibility of taking the lead in manufacturing and development of small-size rechargeable batteries. We are resolved to stand unshakeable in this position.

We are determined to further increase operations through highly efficient manufacturing methods utilizing extremely advanced technologies for producing batteries and manufacturing techniques in the blessed environment of Tokushima. With the cooperation and support of Tokushima's citizens, the Mobile Energy Company will continue to establish a leading position in the industry.
